A late 2011 review of the links in this section showed the danger of
using "free" Web hosting services: ALL of the sites in
this list that were hosted on geocities.com (along with the rest
of the GeoCities community) went away when Yahoo bought GeoCities and
terminated the service. A similar fate happened to many other sites
that were hosted by ISPs that are no longer in business, or AOL, or ...
The moral of this story is - if you want to be sure your site is going
to stay up as long as you want it to, buy a domain name and hosting at a
reliable provider. Otherwise, you will be at the mercy of the bean
counters when they decide that your "free" service is costing too much
money and they shut it down.
